Terms of service.
Last updated 25 September 2026
These terms cover website design and build work by SiteSmith Labs (Harry Irwin, UK), and your use of the client portal. Your written quote and any signed agreement for a project sit alongside these terms. If they ever disagree, the signed agreement wins.
Quotes and prices
- Every project gets one fixed price, agreed in writing before work starts.
- The price only changes if you ask for something that wasn't in the agreed specification. I'll always tell you the cost of any extra and wait for your OK before doing it.
- Payment terms, including any deposit, are set out in your quote or agreement.
How a project runs
- Two rounds of changes are included as standard at the design and build stages.
- Timelines (usually two to three weeks) depend on getting your words, photos and feedback when agreed. Delays on either side move the launch date.
- You're responsible for making sure anything you send me, such as text, images and logos, is yours to use and doesn't break anyone else's rights.
Ownership
Once the project is paid in full, the website, its code and its content are yours. Your domain is registered in your name. I may show the finished site in my portfolio unless you ask me not to.
Hosting
Sites are hosted with my hosting partner, Cybrancee. Hosting and domain renewals are billed separately, and you can move your site elsewhere at any time. I'll help you pack.
The client portal
- Keep your login details private. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- Signing a document in the portal, whether drawn or typed, counts as your signature, the same as signing on paper.
- I aim to keep the portal available, but it may occasionally be down for maintenance.
Liability
I'll carry out the work with reasonable care and skill. I'm not liable for indirect losses such as lost profits or business, and my total liability for a project is limited to the price you paid for it. Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
Cancelling
Either of us can end a project in writing. You'll pay for work done up to that point, and receive everything completed so far once it's paid for.
The legal bit
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Questions? Email [email protected].
